TRAIL DIFFICULTY
- average
Get ready to discover the thrilling story behind the diverse landscape of Pag – a melting pot of rocky terrain and tamer areas, hidden bays of the Podvelebit Channel and the remains of bauxite mines.
The Kozje Berdo hiking trail starts off in the fishing village of Zubovići and takes you on an approximately one-hour walk to Kozje Berdo situated at an altitude of 127 meters. At the hilltop, you will find a stone heap built from several concentric circles that dates back to the Bronze Age. While you’re there, soak up the view of Velebit, its channel and the entire Pag Bay as well as several forts and villages in the lowlands around Novalja.
The next stop of the route are bauxite mines and the magical bay of Vela Luka. There will be markings all along this 4.8-kilometre-long trail. Up next is a walk down a shepherd’s path to a water spring and the return journey to the charming village of Zubovići.
IMPORTANT!
The Kozje Berdo trail is open throughout the year, but it should be noted that hikes on the rocky terrain of Barbat require sturdy trainers or hiking shoes, sufficient amounts of water (we recommend bringing at least one litre of water), and preferably a mobile phone with a fully charged battery.
The same rules apply on the trail as they do in life – follow the signs and enjoy the journey!
