The Other Side of the Moon is an area in which three trails of stone enchantment intertwine, offering exquisite views of the mythical Croatian massif Velebit, the azure sea, bare stone crags and the blue sky. Each of these trails has its own story, a series of intriguing details from Pag’s history and unique stone vistas that could have only been shaped by nature. If you set off on any trail, you are guaranteed enjoyment and relaxation, because the trails pass by Ledenik, the loveliest and most interesting geological and paleontological zone on the island of Pag, and possibly unique in the entire Mediterranean.

The Other Side of the Moon is something that you’ll find nowhere else, except perhaps on the Earth’s actual Moon.

An exceptionally interesting and easier trail which leads from the macadam road below Lokva at Ledenik to Zaton Cove, providing a view of the Pag Strait, the islet of Mali Maškalic, which resembles a stone crocodile, and the phenomenal, awe-inspiring rock formations and “lunar” wonders.

If you like stories from history, then you will sate your curiosity here, because on this trail you will come to the enclosed Velesova Cave, named after the god from old Slavic mythology, Veles, who wages an eternal, cyclical battle against the god Perun.

Given that in old Slavic mythology Veles was portrayed as a serpent or a dragon, when visiting you should avoid trying to open this cave with some kind of magic incantation.

This trail is short, easy to hike and accessible to all age groups, and in the warmer parts of the year it is ideal for pleasant all-day family outings, with swimming in Zaton Cove. There are two vantage points adjacent to the trail that offer exquisite views.

LENGTH: 1.6 km to Zaton (30 minutes) and a total of 3.2 km (1:00h) with the return to the starting point.
