Sveti Vid - the highest peak on the island of Pag (349 m/asl)

Sveti Vid is the highest peak on the island of Pag, rising just above Pag Bay. It derives its name from the Chapel of St. Vitus, built on its summit in 1348. A concrete land survey post stands nearby.

Pag’s highest peak offers a sensational view of the ‘Lunar Island’, Pag Cove, the stone town of Pag, the Pag salt pans, the mythical massif of Velebit, islands of Kvarner and Northern Dalmatia, the Velebit Channel and the island’s spacious stone terrain, interspersed with a lattice of picturesque stacked stone walls built by the toil of our ancestors.

Pag has four marked and maintained hiking trails that lead to the top of Sveti Vid: the first leads from Šimuni (SW), the second from Kolan (from the NW),the third from Dubrava (NNE). The marked trail in Šimuni begins just across the way from the camp, and the ascent itself takes approximately an hour and 15 minutes. There is an initially easy ascent on the hillside, and then 40 minutes later the trail leads to a rocky plateau, merging with the trail from Kolan. There is another gentle 30 minute climb to the summit.

You can set off for the summit on your own or with a guide. Always bring along enough water, sunscreen and suitable clothing, footwear and other gear for hiking. The trail is suitable for all recreational hikers.
